What's happening in the Siouxland Section.......


The Center for Power Systems Studies (CPSS) will be hosting their annual fall banquet at South Dakota State University (SDSU) on October 19. This meeting will also serve as a Siouxland IEEE PES event, and all Siouxland Section members are invited to attend. This year’s banquet will be honoring Professor Emeritus Wayne Knabach. The Siouxland Section will also be hosting an Excomm meeting at SDSU on this date from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm in the SSU 0273 Oakwood room in SDSU’s student union.

The following individuals were nominated by the Nominating Committee for the positions indicated for 2009:

Jeff VanRoekel, Chair
Jeff was previously the Secretary/Treasurer and Computer Society Chair.

Russel Van Der Werff, Vice Chair & Computer Society Chapter Chair
Russel is an Engineer at Sencore in Sioux Falls, SD.

Sara Venhuizen, Secretary/Treasurer & GOLD Affinity Group Chair
Sara is an Engineer at Sencore in Sioux Falls, SD.

Austin Hoekman, Power Society Chair
Austin is a Transmission Engineer with Missouri River Energy Services in Sioux Falls, SD.

Christensen, Member-at-Large
Dan is a Software Engineer at Sencore in Sioux Falls, SD.

Alok Kumar Shrestha, Member-at-Large
   Alok is a Graduate Student at SDSU in Brookings, SD.

Doug is a professor in the Engineering Department of Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA.

Robert Fourney, SDSU Student Chapter Liaison
Bob is a professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of SDSU in Brookings, SD.

Brian Smies, Electronic Communications Coordinator
Brian is an Engineer at Sencore in Sioux Falls, SD.

Brian Matherly, Past Chair
 Brian has been the Chair, Vice Chair, GOLD Chair and a Member-at-Large for the Section.
Brian is an Engineer at Sencore in Sioux Falls, SD.

 

If there are any other section members interested in serving on the Executive Committee for 2009, please call or email either Steve or Brian before December 22, 2008. If there are no other nominees, no election will held and the nominated individuals will assume the position indicated on January1, 2009.


2007 Awards Banquet

The First Annual Awards Banquet was held on November 13 at the Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls.
The following awards were given out at the event:

Outstanding Member Award presented to Douglas DeBoer for his contributions, achievements and dedication to the IEEE.
Outstanding Member Award presented to Jeff White for his contributions, achievements and dedication to the IEEE.
Outstanding Engineer Award presented to Jeff Van Roekel for his accomplishments in the Engineering profession.
Friend of IEEE Award presented to Missouri River Energy Services for its continuous dedication to the IEEE.
