Objectives:
The purpose of this meeting is to expose members of the IEEE computer society to the existence of gEDA design tools and how they work.  This is an informal meeting of computer enthusiasts interested in creating some basic hardware solutions for their big idea.  An attendee wouldn't walk away with the exact details of how to design a board but rather a big jump start on what pieces are involved and where to look to find assistance.

Target Audience:
-Embedded software or electrical engineer
-Electrical Technician
-Student or hobbyist with a general working knowledge of electrical circuits.
-Individual interested Linux and/or PCB design tools.
-You don’t need an electrical engineering degree to make a good working PCB!

About the Speaker:
My background is Software Engineering and I have a fundamental understanding digital circuits and design concepts.  So you can bring your fancy electrical analog questions about transistor saturation etc. and there may be someone at the meeting that can help you, but I’m not the person.  I have experience with Linux and microcontrollers and have applied these general tools to solve a few system problems in my 5 years of industry experience.  I used a couple months of free time installing gEDA on Linux and learning how to use the tools.  The fruit of those couple months of effort is what I’m offering in this meeting.

Basic Agenda:
-Basic principles of PCB design
-Discuss why I chose gEDA and the pros and cons of this tool
-Discuss gEDA big picture
   -Target Users
   -Linux Platform solution
-Intro to puzzle pieces (gschem, gEDA, gsch2pcb etc)
   -Design flow
   -Ordering PCB board
-Demonstrate a very simple design from start to finish.
   -Schematic to PCB boardhouse verification
